Experience days

  1. "Ranger for the Day" and "Big Cat Photo Days" (the experience) are operated by Wildlife Heritage Foundation Ltd (referred to as WHF in these terms and conditions), Marley Farm, Headcorn Road, Smarden, Ashford, Kent, TN27 8PJ. Wildlife Heritage Foundation is a registered Charity number 1104420.
  2. The experience is for the named participant only, if required we can accommodate spectators on the basis of one per participant for "Ranger for the Day" experiences at a cost of £15. On "Big Cat Photo Days" the full fee is payable for everyone using a camera during the day, depending on total numbers attending on a day it is sometimes possible to accommodate spectators on the basis of £15 fee to include any refreshments offered.
  3. All experiences must be paid in full 7 days prior to participating.
  4. Cancellation less than 7 days prior to the event may incur a payment of 50% of the experience fee. Subject to availability and payment of a new full fee WHF will offer next suitable and available new date to the participant. Where cancellation occurs more than 7 days before the agreed date of the experience WHF, will endeavour to rebook the experience on a mutually agreed future date. There will be a £10 administration fee payable for this service.
  5. Participants will be required to attend a safety briefing at the start of their experience session and to sign our health and safety declaration.
  6. Smoking within our buildings is not permitted at any time. Drinking of alcohol or taking of non prescription drugs may impede your ability to remain safely near our animals. If our staff judge that you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs they will not permit you to proceed with your experience. In these circumstances no refunds will be offered.
  7. The minimum age for participation in a WHF experience is 18 years old. There is no upper limit but participants should note that the location is an outside venue with some access over grass.
  8. Given the nature of these experiences appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear should be worn according to the season. WHF is not liable for any damage done to clothing whilst you are participating in your activity, unless damage is caused by our neglect.
  9. Our experiences are weather dependant in that they are held in the open air. WHF will not normally refund fees paid if the participant decides to cancel because of the weather conditions. When weather conditions force WHF to cancel an experience a new date will be agreed with the participant, or a refund offered.
  10. There is good access to all our animal houses but participants with special mobility needs are requested to liaise with WHF before booking. Our aim is to facilitate visits to our site by everyone, however it may be necessary, if mobility problems make access to our Kent site unsafe, that we will suggest a similar event at our sister organisation in Hertfordshire that has "full access for all" arrangements in place.
  11. If participating in the "Ranger for the Day" experience you should note that there will be some limited physical work involving lifting and use of hand held tools. Activities will be tailored to individual abilities on the day.
  12. There is no direct contact between participants and our animals.
  13. As with any contact with animals, participants should note that given the nature of material fed to our animals that there is always a risk of coming into contact with harmful bacteria and viruses. By following our advice regarding hand washing and use of disposable gloves you will reduce this risk to an absolute minimum.
  14. Wildlife Heritage Foundation will make every effort to make your experience a safe and enjoyable event — in return we request that you follow our health and safety instructions. WHF shall not be liable for any damage or injury that results from your failure to comply with our instructions. WHF reserves to right the terminate an experience if the participant chooses not to follow our safety advice.
