Big Cat Sanctuary
The big cat sanctuary
Large predators are a marker that assures us that all must be well in a location. They survive only where there is prey and shelter. Where they are not found indicates intrusive human activity, whether it be farming, forestry, or exploitation of natural resources.
With your help we can do something about it.
The future of these fantastic animals is in our hands, organisations such as Wildlife Heritage Foundation are working in partnership with colleagues and other organisations around the world to:
- Preserve species by captive breeding
- Educate and improve human understanding of predators
- Ultimately be part of planned scientific reintroductions of animals to their wild range, ensuring a balanced ecosystem for future generations of humans.
The animal collection at WHF has been brought together over a two year period using the experience of our staff and guidance from The European Endangered Species Programmes (EEP) committees. As the credibility of our abilities has become wider known we have been entrusted with increasingly more important animals by our peers and colleagues across the UK and Europe.
If we are to deliver our vision in the short to medium term we need to invest just over £1 million in our UK facilities. This would be certain to provide a centre at least on a par with others across Europe and better than most found across the planet.
