Immediate plans 2007

Wildlife Heritage Foundation

From small beginnings in 2004, WHF has worked in collaboration with colleagues from the European Endangered Breeding Programmes (EEPs) to establish some important breeding pairs of cats at its cat facility.

Protecting species is expensive and receives limited financial assistance from governments or funding bodies, such as the National Lottery.

To enable us to expand the scope of our work we have acquired some important milestones over the last 18 months. We have obtained planning consent to expand our cat enclosures by some six major units each with large indoor accommodation and up to three very large landscaped external enclosures — each unit will cost between £100,000 and £120,000 to build.

We also have planning consent to construct a new entrance, visitor parking and a small education centre. In all around £250,000 has been invested to improve our facilities for our members and our guests, who purchase experience days to get up close and really personal with our rare and endangered cats.

Even without this investment programme it costs £6,250 to provide food and appropriate care for a single cat for just one year. This figure includes cost of food, bedding, cleaning materials, staff costs and veterinary care.

You can greatly assist our work by purchasing a big cat adoption, by giving a donation or, if you own or have influence in a business that might assist with our development work, with gifts in kind. Contact us now to see if your gift to WHF might be mutually beneficial — we hope at the very least you will feel proud to support the work of WHF.
